How to Kick satan's Butt2/28/2023 If you’ve been walking with Jesus for any length of time, you’ve crossed paths with satan every now and then. If not, in the words of Bill Johnson-maybe you’re walking in the same direction as him.
I remember my first encounter with satan. It was May 2010. I hadn’t given my life to the Lord yet but I was attending a weekly Bible study and really coming to understand who Jesus was. I was driving home late at night and feeling a level of joy I’d never felt before. Then, clear as could be in my mind, satan started speaking lies about my identity. This shook me to my core and sent me into a months-long battle of questioning who was actually speaking the truth about me-Jesus or satan?

The True Confessions of an Encourager2/21/2023 If people were to ask me what my “gift” is, I’d say it’s encouragement. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always enjoyed speaking into people’s lives to comfort them, encourage them and remind them of who they are. This all started back in middle school when I’d chat with my friends on AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) *Anyone else just now have a flashback to slow, dial-up internet and the sound of a door opening multiple times?*
My Valentine's Day Message2/14/2023 If you're single, just know that you are loved.
If you're divorced, just know that you are loved. If you're widowed, just know that you are loved. If you've been raped, just know that you are loved. If you've been molested, just know that you are loved. If you've been abused in any way, just know that you are loved. Continued Faith > Cystic Fibrosis2/7/2023 If you haven’t read Abbe’s blog from last week, make sure to check it out before you read this blog. She did a wonderful job of giving you an insight into what it’s like living with Cystic Fibrosis and I admire her courage and bravery in doing so. In this blog, I’m going to be giving you the perspective of what it’s like being the spouse of someone who has CF.
When I first met Abbe in 2010 and she told me had CF, I had never heard of it before. Admittedly, I’m pretty ignorant when it comes to anything related to the medical field-I think I initially thought cystic meant “terminal,” and I had no idea what the heck a fibrosis was! Being ever-so patient with me, she told me how it affects her lungs, that she has to take a lot of medications and wear a vest that shakes her up. It sounded like a lot of work to take care of herself, but I didn’t think much of it. Guest blog written by Abbe Skaggs:
“And then, after your brief suffering, the God of all loving grace, who has called you to share in His eternal glory in Christ, will personally and powerfully restore you and make you stronger than ever. Yes, He will set you firmly in place and build you up.” 1 Peter 5:10 Life hasn’t been easy with chronic illness. At 6 months old, I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) via sweat test. My mom recognized the signs right away-wheezing/coughing with thick mucus, failure to thrive and troubles digesting my food. She saw those same signs 6 years earlier when my sister was diagnosed with CF. Four Common Problems I See in Marriages1/23/2023 Working as a marriage and family therapist, I get a unique view into marriage every day. The severity and intensity of a couple’s problems I work with range from “we get along really well but need to work on communicating better with each other” to “I hate my spouse for what they’ve done to me and I never wanna see them again.” Some couples are committed to making things work at any cost while others are hanging on by a thread and view me as their last hope. (*Side note-if you’re putting your hope in me, prepare to be let down! I can’t fix your marriage, but Jesus can!*)
It Starts With Coffee and Jesus1/17/2023 Guest blog written by Katie Kuschel:
I'm not a writer. I don't sit in my house on my computer or at a desk with my favorite pen and notebook jotting down all my feelings and deep intellectual thoughts. To be honest, I'm pretty sure I failed my high school English class...nope, I am not a writer. I'm a stay-at-home mom from Minnesota with a message, who was randomly asked to write a guest blog. So here I am. Writing. Praying that God uses this to speak to your heart and move you to action. On the January 2nd edition of Monday Night Football, I witnessed one of the scariest and most bizarre things I’d ever seen take place on the gridiron. Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin had tackled Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver Tee Higgins on a seemingly routine play, but when Damar stood up after the play, he collapsed back down onto the field.
Those that know me well know that I’m a fan of professional wrestling. Some may wonder why I like watching grown men and women pretend fighting, essentially in their underwear, in front of thousands of people. My answer to that is it’s like any other TV show or movie I watch-even though it’s “fake,” it’s still entertaining. The larger than life personalities of the wrestlers. The extravagant entrances to the ring. The athleticism displayed in the squared circle. The storylines that lead to the “good guy” getting the victory. I’m a sucker for it all!
How The Vikings Lead Me To Jesus12/27/2022 January 17th, 1999. A day that will live on in infamy if you’re a Minnesota Vikings fan. I was in 3rd grade and enjoying my first season as a fan. And what a year to begin my fandom! The franchise had just drafted Randy Moss and paired him with Cris Carter and Jake Reed to form the “3 Deep” trio of receivers. Veteran quarterback Randall Cunningham was inserted as starter after Brad Johnson went down with an ankle injury, Robert Smith lead the ground attack and a solid offensive line lead to the most explosive, highest-scoring offense in NFL history up to that point.
Terry SkaggsAs a licensed marriage and family therapist, listening, observing, and asking meaningful questions come naturally to me. But I felt called by the Lord to do more with my life, so I began interviewing people and sharing their incredible stories of transformation with the world. Archives
